I’m a Pommy Mommy… Graphic Designer, Illustrator, Artist, Promo Model, Dog Groomer, Dog Trainer, Social Media Consultant… whew, I get exhausted saying all of that… but that’s me in a nutshell. Everything I do is freelance so I can stay home so much more than with a “regular” 9 – 5 job, which is wonderful. Especially with Lucia’s special needs, I feel better being around her and have come to find that she’s come around and is really starting to show her personality and enjoys attention.
I knew as soon as I searched “small black dogs” and a pic of a little black furball popped up in my image search that I NEEDED a Pomeranian in my life. I had only really interacted with one Pom in my life and didn’t know much about the breed. Once I read up on them I just had to find my baby! I researched and studied everything I could find on local Pomeranian breeders… I had heard about puppy mills and that the internet was how they distributed their puppies but I did my homework and found a very reputable breeder online. I asked every question in the book and they were very helpful and asked me to come down and visit to calm my nerves. I never felt so compelled to do anything in my whole life… but getting this little Black Furry Baby put me into high gear.
It’s hard to believe that a dog especially a small breed like a Pomeranian could literally change your life… but Prada did just that. She is absolutely the best dog ever she’s so smart – funny – loving and playful — I can’t ever imagine having another breed of dog.
Pomeranians are perfection!
Lucia came to me through my very dear friend who is a Vet. Someone literally dumped her in a box in the rain on the doorstep of my friends clinic. The head Veterinarian or her “boss” wanted to put her down because there was so many things wrong with her that he didn’t think her life would be as productive as it should be. My friend had a very different perspective and just knew this little baby was special.
I was working at the house when I got a call around 2pm and she asked me if I would FOSTER her. There was a real sense of urgency in her voice that made me ask why she needed to know so quickly. My friend replied, “She going to be put down at 5pm”. There was no thinking… I rushed down there as fast I could without even knowing what was in store for me and this little furry baby.
I took her in and she was just so destroyed by someone, it was awful. That first night I was on the sofa with all 3lbs of her on my chest where she fell asleep. Knowing what she had been through, I decided to leave her there and sleep on the sofa. I woke up the next morning and she was still on my chest, hasn’t moved AN INCH and I had drool down my neck — I was scared she had died from her injuries — but I gently touched her & she slowly roused and I knew then she wasn’t going to be a foster, that she was part of my little family.
Lucia came to me with a UTI, eye infections, missing toes with a foot that needed amputation, her leg was out of socket and had to be surgically put back in place, she’s completely blind and partially deaf from the abuse she sustained. It’s so heart breaking to even try to imagine that someone had the capability to do this type of damage to a little, and I mean little Pomeranian. Obviously, being blind and partially deaf with only 3 legs makes it difficult for Lucia to do much, but she does “play” & she has THE BEST smile when you talk to her and give her cuddles. Prada is just a spoiled little Pom that makes me laugh all of the time with all her funny mannerisms. I’m just waiting for her to sit up and start talking to me one day! Thank you for allowing me to tell you my story.

I am a stay at home pom mom to 2 loving fur balls. In fact they are sprawled out on my lap as I type. I am a web applications designer and they are so much more company than my two cats. They are my shawdow’s and keep me on my toes. Leeah my female 6-7 lbs is 3 and Teddy 14.5 is 1 and its kind of funny they are like kids well they are my kids as I do not have any human children.
God bless you
