Hello Pommy Mommies (and Daddy’s!) Today on the blog we are talking about Rose, a cute little foster Pomeranian who was adopted from a Pomeranian rescue called South Paw Animal Rescue. Rose and her “Pommy Mommy” Julianne live in Florida. Julianne is going to be telling us all about her first time fostering a Pomeranian and more about the South Paw Animal Rescue. She also included more information on how to get involved with the rescue if you’re interested.
So as always, sit back…. relax…. cuddle up with your favorite little poof ball, and enjoy her story.
I am guilty. I have bought a dog from an irresponsible breeder. One day I was watching Oprah and they were talking about puppy mills, I didn’t know at the time what a puppy mill was so I watched to learn about it. The pictures they showed were horrific, it showed pictures of small dogs and in some cases big dogs crammed in wired cages, dirty water, no food, and no sign of being taken care of. It showed pure bred dogs that gave birth to the puppies you see in the pet store. In the pet store the puppies look healthy and happy but where their parents are is not healthy or happy. After crying in front of the television and learning about puppy mills, I decided to research it more to help. After researching I found a rescue, they were called “South Paw
Animal Rescue,” and like many others I filled out an application to foster. About a week later I was approved to foster for the Papillion and Pomeranian rescue (occasionally we get other small or medium sized dogs), the rescue saved dogs from puppy mills, kill shelters (where they give a dog that comes in usually 5 days to get adopted before euthanizing) and breeder rejects (the breeder no longer wants to care for the dog they breed) after fostering numerous dogs… a dog named Rose came into my home. She was 8 years old and spent about 6 or so years in a puppy mill, she was as sweet and friendly as can be (some dogs from puppy mills are so abused that it takes them a good while to come around). A week or two after having Rose an application came through and as the foster application stated- If a dog gets an application and you find yourself attached to that dog you
have the first option in adopting that dog- although it was a good application I couldn’t find myself letting go of Rose, the way she followed me around the way you could tell she was already home. Rose has been with me since August 24th, 2008 and will continue to live here for the rest of her life. She is home.
About South Paw: Two sisters started the rescue when they lived in Florida and now live in Tennessee. We have fosters in a couple of states: Florida, Tennessee, Virginia, and Arkansas. We are looking for foster homes in the Southern states but even if you aren’t you can fill out an application on our website: http://www.southpawrescue.org/ . South Paw Animal Rescue and Sanctuary is a 501c3 non-profit animal rescue founded in 2007. We are an all-volunteer organization dedicated to rescuing Papillion’s, Pomeranians, and puppy mill dogs. We do not have an animal shelter building. All of our rescued animals live in foster homes. We are funded solely by charitable donations with 100% going directly to the care and medical needs of the animals we rescue. If you would like to make a donation you can do so by going to our website.

Please contact the rescues with all and any questions about the Pomeranians listed below. I am in no way affiliated or work with the South Paw Animal Rescue and Sanctuary. I am unable to tell you any and all information about the dogs. Thank you! 🙂
Meet Sonny: Sonny was rescued from a shelter. He’s a tiny little guy with a very delicate structure. His beautiful brown eyes seem to look right thru you sometimes. This is one beautiful Pomeranian. Sonny loves to be with people. He is a wonderful little lap pet or he will snuggle up on the couch. He must have been deprived of attention wherever he was before because he really craves attention now and sometimes gets jealous of the other dogs. We haven’t been letting him get away with it and he has gotten much better about sharing. Sonny had not been well cared for wherever he was before he got here. Sonny loves toys and bones and a soft place to lay. He is a sweet tiny boy and is going to make someone a wonderful little companion. Sonny would do best as an only dog or with one other like sized dog for companionship.
Meet HoDee: She’s had a rough past and really needs your help. HoDee is a small girl & usually quiet. She came to us from a commercial breeding situation. HoDee is on daily seizure medication. When she came into rescue her teeth were a mess and her ears were infected. She has had her teeth cleaned and her ears are much better now. Hodee has just gone thru double hip surgery so she will hopefully be able to walk soon. Two hip surgeries at the same time is really a challenge and Hodee faces a long road of rehabilitation. She is starting to walk and doing very well!
Meet Stacey: Stacy came to our rescue from a commercial breeder who decided to get out of the business of breeding dogs. Stacy is an extremely fearful dog. She is very afraid of people and is currently untouchable. The person who adopts this beauty will need to be patient and willing to work with her.
*We do adopt out of state but you need to pay for transportation.
