Today’s Pommy Mommy post is all about cute little Kong! This is not a classic “love at first sight story” Find out if Kong took over his mommys heart or not! -I’ll give you a clue, cute fluffy things usually win in the end!-
I first met Kong and his mommy on Instagram. I fell in love with his cute pictures and funny captions. I talked with his mommy over email, and found out Kong lives in Thailand! This makes Kong the first international Pomeranian to be featured on the Pommy Mommy blog! We could not think of a better Pomeranian for the job. Take a look at what Kongs Mommy had to say and find out how he came to live with his new family!
Here’s a little background on Kongs human family:
I am Li Chang Ratanapisit Kwok ,Leah. I’m 46 and Chinese born with Netherlands nationality. Living in HatYai Thailand! I met my husband Thawatchai in Guangzhou China in 1987. We studied Chinese language and Mandarin together! We got married in 1995. We have 3 kids 1girl and 2 boys.
Kongs full name is Kaokong Ratanapisit, his former owners gave him that name. He has a sister Kaophood that means corn, she is
lighter creamy colored, Kaokong means brown rice, and Kong was much darker! Because Kong is a hyper fast running puppy we shortened his name to Kong .
Our road to Kong all started with a party at Kong’s former home. Picture a big house with a veranda and a pool, here comes little puppy Kong, only 2 months old, running around on that veranda and his sister followed him walking and sniffing everything in sight. Slowly and so very “Kong like” he ran right into the pool!!! Luckily for him Kaophood (his sister) saw and came running and barking to the edge of the pool. His little puppy sissy barked so panicked that a friend of my husband jumped into the water and rescued Kong! My husband instantly fell in love with this silly adventures puppy. He asked the owners if he could have him for me! He was so sure I would love this little fluffy puppy! However without even seeing Kong I said no.
Not long after the party, I had returned from a trip from China. My father passed away and thankfully I was there in time to say good bye with my family. While I stayed stayed with my mom for 2 weeks, my sweet hubby called every day to tell me that I really needed this puppy to be my company. I gave in just to have him shut up!
The day was February 20th 2010, my husband said that was a good day to bring a dog home! My daughter Aom and I went to see Kong for the first time. (My husband had already gone back to see Kong several times!) In my mind, I planned to turn them down by refusing to bring him home!!! But as soon as I went in the house, this little fluffy ball of happiness came running to me.
Kong’s two uncles, mom and sister were keeping their distance but Kaokong was so excited! I picked him up and we cuddled and he kissed me and stayed close to me. When I put him on the floor he was circling around me. I cuddled his mom and sister but it was Kong that I had my eyes on and Aom, my daughter begged me to take him home. I picked him up and we took him home!
We all fell in love with this furball, it took him just a few days to fit in and now he is the king of the house!
Kong loves taking showers, eats anything that is eatable then begs for more. He enjoys “killing his toys” playing with whatever comes around like frogs, cockroaches, bats, house lizards, chases birds cats and snakes! My boys Tee and Lek and their sister Aom take turns to walk Kong, but he mostly wants me to come on our adventure too!
My family and I took Kong back to his former owners a few times. He played with the others, barked at the new dogs in the house, and even went potty on the new cars of his former owner!! He will play with his Pom family for 30 minutes, then he will come looking for me! When it’s time to go home, all I have to say is Kong Kap Bahn and he will sniff goodbye to the others and run to me! I guess that’s true love! 🙂
