My Pomeranian alarm clock is not made of metal, plastic or any other manmade material. Mine is made of fluffy red hair and weighs 3 lbs. It never fails, every morning as the sun is starting to peek through the blinds in the bedroom I hear the patter of little baby paws pacing back and forth on the edge of the bed. This would be Sophia, or as I like to call her in the mornings “Warden”. She acts like a prison warden looking down upon the other “Pomeranian Prisoners” on the floor sleeping in their bed.
Once she is finished playing “warden” she will come stumbling up the bed over the covers to climb right up and sit on my pillow, she nudges my nose with hers and starts giving me my morning dose of baby kisses. This all usually takes place anywhere between 7:45am and 8:00am. As soon as the sun comes out and its bright enough for her, she can’t wait to get up and play and go eat her breakfast!
I decide to stop “pretending to sleep” and actually open my eyes and start petting her! Once I pet her in the morning I have to get up! She won’t let me go back to sleep. If I try and go back to bed she will have a barking tantrum, when this happens she circles twice then hops up on my chest and continues to let out little barks and nudge my hands to pet her until I get up!
Bed time is a much different story, Sophia and I usually watch something on Netflix before we go to bed. At the beginning of the movie I’m holding her on my lap, in the middle of the movie she has made it off of my lap and sleeping next to me in our big oversize comfortable chair. At the end of the movie you can find Sophia having the entire chair to herself snoring as loud as her daddy (I’m serious, she snores as loud as a grown man!) You can find me over on the couch watching the rest of the movie. I usually have to get up and get a drink, answer the phone, go to the bathroom, something usually happens that causes me to have to get up. When I go to sit back down she has managed to take up the entire chair so I can no longer fit in it without having to move her and wake her up!
Sophia is such a little princess, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
When I was writing this post she nudged my foot 3 times and did a cute little dance 2 times! Anything to get my attention! She’s very persistent and never gives up! As soon as I give in and look at her she get’s so excited knowing she “won” and wags her tail…She know belly rubs are coming!!
