Finding Love After Loss
After the heartbreaking loss of our beloved Pomeranian, Todd, I wasn’t sure if my heart could heal. Todd had been an integral part of our family, and the emptiness left behind was unbearable. My home felt so quiet, and I missed his presence every day. Despite the grief, I knew I couldn’t live without the companionship of a Pomeranian. This time, I decided to adopt and began my search for a new fur baby to fill the void in our home, welcome Lily.
Little did I know that fate had something special in store for me. As I browsed through the Annapolis SPCA website, I stumbled upon a listing that caught my eye—an adorable female Pomeranian. To my surprise, she looked almost identical to Todd. Same color, same size—it was as if she was the female version of him. It felt like a sign from above, and my heart instantly knew that this sweet girl was meant to be part of our family.
Meeting Lily for the First Time
Later that day, my oldest daughter and I made a trip to the shelter to meet this little Pomeranian, whom we would soon know as Lily. As we entered the kennel area, I spotted her immediately, nestled with two other dogs in a small, crowded kennel. She was incredibly shy, a quiet presence amidst the noise of the shelter. My heart melted the moment I saw her.
When the shelter volunteer handed Lily to me, something magical happened. As soon as I held her in my arms, I felt an overwhelming sense of love and connection. She looked up at me with her gentle eyes, and I knew right then that she was meant to be ours. My daughter fell in love with her too, and we both knew we had found our new family member.
Bringing Lily Home
The adoption process seemed to take forever, even though it was only three days. Those three days felt like an eternity as we anxiously waited to bring Lily home. When the day finally came, our hearts were filled with excitement and anticipation. We were officially Pommy Mommies again, and our home felt complete once more.
However, Lily came home with an unexpected surprise—Kennel Cough. While it was a small setback, we wasted no time in getting her the care she needed. With a bit of medication and lots of love, Lily was soon on the mend. Once she was healthy, her true personality began to shine, and she became the joy of our household.
Settling Into Her New Life
Lily’s presence in our home was an absolute blessing. She quickly became the heart of our family. Unlike Todd, who had been quite the barker, Lily was much quieter. In fact, two weeks had passed, and we hadn’t heard a single bark from her. Then, one day, someone knocked at the door, and to our surprise, Lily let out the sweetest bark we had ever heard. It was soft, gentle, and completely endearing—a reflection of her calm and loving nature.
Lily’s Personality
Lily is a low-key Pomeranian who adores being held. Her favorite place in the world is my lap, where she will happily curl up for hours, content just to be close. She loves the warmth and comfort of human touch and thrives on the attention and love we give her. In fact, she’s so polite that if I ask her to get down from my lap, she does so immediately and without complaint. Her gentle demeanor makes her the perfect companion, and she has brought so much peace and happiness into our lives.
The Joy of Rescue
Looking back, I can’t believe how lucky I was to find Lily when I did. She came into our lives at a time when we needed her most, and she has filled our home with love and joy. There is something incredibly special about rescuing a Pomeranian, especially one as sweet as Lily. The bond we share is undeniable, and I am so grateful to have her as part of our family.
Lily may have started her journey in the shelter, but she has found her forever home with us. She is the perfect reminder that sometimes, the most beautiful things in life come to us when we least expect them. As a Pommy Mommy, I couldn’t be happier to have rescued my little girl. Every day with Lily is a gift, and I cherish every moment we spend together.
