A Pommy Mommy Rescue Story: Bambi and Kurtis Part 2

Bambi and Kurtis

Bambi and KurtisThis week’s rescue story is about two sweet Pomeranians, Bambi and Kurtis! Their journey to a loving home is heartwarming, and I’ve loved following their adventures on Instagram. I just had to share their story with you! Check out our previous post to learn all about Kurtis, Bambi’s “brother.”

Peggy, the proud mom of Bambi and Kurtis, has always been passionate about animals. With over 16 years of professional grooming experience, she found herself looking for a new job when a unique opportunity came her way. She was approached by a woman who needed help grooming her Pomeranians, and Peggy was eager to step up to the challenge!

Walking into a Pomeranian Wonderland

Bambi and KurtisWhen Peggy arrived at the home, she was greeted by more than 40 adult Pomeranians and countless Pomeranian puppies! (Can you imagine a house filled with that much fluff?!) The woman Peggy was helping turned out to be a Pomeranian breeder. She kept the male Poms separate from the females and ensured they all had food and water. However, this breeder had a unique business model: she would breed the Pomeranians but only sell one puppy from each litter! These puppies were sold for a hefty price, ranging from $1,200 to $3,000. As a result, not many Pomeranians were sold, and most stayed in her home.

Peggy’s Experience with the Pomeranians

Peggy quickly got to work grooming the Pomeranians and bonding with them. She noticed that many of the Poms were lacking socialization and attention. These sweet dogs were kept in separate rooms with gates in the doorways, and while they were well-fed, they desperately needed more human interaction.

Peggy recalls, “The adults were so sweet, but they needed the touch of a human heart that truly cared about their well-being.” It was clear that these Poms were craving affection and attention.

A New Home for Bambi

Bambi and KurtisOne day, the breeder fell ill and could no longer care for all the Pomeranians. The dogs were given to friends and family members to rehome. That’s when Peggy saw her chance to give one of these Pomeranians the loving home they deserved. She decided to adopt a sweet Pomeranian puppy named  Bambi.

Bambi was in desperate need of love, care, and good food. She was shy at first, but that only lasted about a day. Soon, she warmed up to Peggy and quickly became part of the pack. With Peggy’s experience as an animal rescuer (she’s rescued everything from dogs and cats to squirrels!), Bambi was in good hands.

Bambi’s Role in the Pack

Bambi quickly blossomed into the “Mama Hen” role in Peggy’s little pack of furry friends. Every day, Bambi makes it her mission to show her love to every pack member by giving out kisses! Peggy says, “She is so glad to be loved and cared for. Giving out kisses is her way of giving back.”

Bambi has found her forever home, filled with love and affection. Despite her rough start, she now enjoys the security and happiness of being part of a loving family.

A Heartwarming Ending

Bambi and sock monkeyBambi’s story and that of her brother Kurtis are beautiful reminders of the power of love, patience, and a caring home. Rescue Pomeranians like Bambi often come from challenging backgrounds, but with the proper care and attention, they can thrive and bring endless joy to their families.

Peggy’s dedication to her Pomeranians and her experience as an animal rescuer shines through in this heartwarming story. Bambi’s transformation from a shy, timid puppy to a loving, affectionate pack member shows how resilient and loving rescue dogs can be.

If you’re inspired by Bambi and Kurtis’ story, consider opening your heart and home to a rescue Pomeranian. You never know—the next dog you bring into your life might change it for the better, just like Bambi has for Peggy.

Thank you, Peggy, for sharing your incredible story, and thank you to all the Pommy Mommies (and Daddies!) out there who continue to rescue and care for these beautiful little dogs.
