Dressing Up Is Fun for Both of Us
I’m not the only one who enjoys the experience. My Pomeranian, Maggie, loves to play dress up just as much as I do! Every time I open their closet (yes, my Pomeranians have a closet—child-sized, of course), Maggie gets excited because she knows that it’s time to go out for a “bye-bye.” When I pick out a dress, she barks and twirls around, full of energy and excitement. She sits on the floor, her tail wagging, and her tongue hanging out with joy.
Maggie’s eyes get wide as watermelons, watching my every move as I take her dress off the hanger. I sit on the floor and undo the Velcro—most dog outfits come with Velcro for easy on-and-off dressing, though some use snaps, buttons, or zippers. As soon as I’m ready, she jumps onto my lap and sticks her head through the top of the dress, eager to get dressed. (Yes, Pomeranians are smart! Maggie knows how to dress herself… well, almost!)
People Are Always Surprised by Maggie’s Love of Dress Up
Whenever I tell my friends how much Maggie enjoys getting dressed, they don’t believe me—at least not until they come over and witness it for themselves. People are always commenting on Maggie’s adorable outfits. I buy her clothes both online and in dog boutiques.
Most places that sell dog clothes have a size chart, making it easy to buy the correct size. After years of practice and a closet full of outfits, I can pretty much eyeball a dress and know if it will fit my girls. Once you have a child-size closet packed with Pomeranian clothes, you’ll understand what I’m talking about!
Maggie’s Prance After Getting Dressed
As soon as Maggie is dressed, she struts around with her nose in the air like she’s the queen of the house. She knows she looks fabulous and has an “I’m pretty, and I know it” attitude. Her prance reminds me of a pony trotting around—so cute and confident in her new dress!
A Wardrobe Full of Joy
When my Pomeranians play dress up it is one of the little joys we share, and the photos I’ve taken of Maggie in her outfits always crack me up. It’s impossible to pick a favorite, as every outfit brings out her vibrant, happy personality. The way she embraces dressing up shows just how fun and smart these little dogs can be!
Whether it’s for a special event or a quick outing, dressing up your Pomeranian is a delightful way to bond with your fur baby. For us Pommy Mommies, it’s all part of the fun of loving and spoiling our little fur babies!
