I’ve been taking my Pomeranians to a professional groomer ever since I rescued them. It’s been a consistent part of our routine to keep them looking and feeling their best. I schedule monthly appointments for Maggie and Yoki, while Little Miss Sophia, being only three pounds, doesn’t need to go quite as often. In this post, I’ll share our latest trip to the groomer and some adorable pictures from their visit to Linda, at the Self Wash and Grooming Boutique.
Scheduling the Perfect Grooming Service
I scheduled a trip to the groomer for Maggie and Yoki for 10:30 AM. Whenever I take my Pomeranians to the groomer, I always opt for the “Bath and Tidy” service. This package includes:
- Two baths
- Anal glands cleaning
- Nail trim
- Sanitary trim
- Ear cleaning
- Trimming pads and around the eyes
- A spritz of cologne for that fresh finish!
I specifically request no major cutting of their fur because I love keeping the girls fluffy year-round. Their iconic Pomeranian fluff is a big part of their charm!
The Trip to the Groomer
With the girls packed in the car, we set off for the boutique. Yoki, as usual, decided the trip called for a little sing-along—her version of singing, anyway. She barked every thirty seconds, letting out little baby yaps that made me smile. I joked with her that we were heading to “Barking Dogs,” the name of their groomer, and she clearly decided to take that name literally! Reflecting on it later, I think her barking might have been in protest of my own singing to country music on the radio.
Picking Out the Perfect Bows
We arrived at the groomer right on time. As always, Linda, their groomer, was welcoming and accommodating. I asked her what color bows she had available this time, and she invited me to come back to the grooming area to pick them out myself. Linda is the best groomer!
After looking through all the options, I chose the cutest blue bows made of tulle (just like the fabric used for ballet tutus!) and ribbon with baby paw prints. I couldn’t resist matching bows for both Maggie and Yoki. Once I selected the bows, I helped Linda settle the girls into their kennel so she could prepare everything for their baths. It’s always comforting to know they’re in good hands and a safe space.
Saying “I’ll Be Back”
Before leaving, I told Maggie and Yoki, “I’ll be back!”—a phrase I use every time I step out of the house so they know I’m not leaving them forever. Given their history, I’m mindful not to make a big deal about leaving. It’s a simple way to reassure them that I’ll always return, unlike their previous owners. I gave them one last wave and headed out, knowing they were about to be pampered.
Time to Pick Up My Freshly Groomed Pomeranians
Two hours later, I received the call—Maggie and Yoki were ready to be picked up. I always get excited to see them after grooming. They greeted me with wagging tails and happy little faces when I arrived. Their fur was silky smooth, smelling fresh and clean, and they carried themselves like royalty, noses in the air as if they knew how pretty they looked!
The Battle with the Bows
The matching blue bows were absolutely adorable in their fur. However, no sooner had we gotten into the car than Maggie decided she wasn’t a fan of her new accessory. She immediately started trying to pull it out! Despite her efforts, they both looked gorgeous, and I couldn’t help but snap a few more photos before heading home.
Final Thoughts
Taking my Pomeranians to the groomer is always an enjoyable experience for both me and the girls. It keeps them looking their best and gives them a little confidence boost. And despite Maggie disliking bows, I’ll continue picking out the cutest ones for every visit!
