Sneaking Your Pomeranians into Forbidden Places

by Pommy Mommy

I know I’m going to stir up some trouble with this one, but I can’t help it—I’m absolutely obsessed with my Pomeranians, and I want to take them everywhere I go! My furry trio—Mika and The Boys (who I often joke should form a country singing group)—are always up for an adventure. They love car rides in our SUV, and their excitement turns every trip into an event. That why I love sneaking my Pomeranians into forbidden places.

The Car Ride Routine

Sneaking Pomeranians into Forbidden PlacesAs soon as they realize we’re heading out, it’s pure chaos. It’s a free-for-all, with them jumping all over each other to get out of the vestibule that leads to the garage. Once we finally get to the car, they run to the back passenger door and wait (and by “wait,” I mean they impatiently hop around). Any Pommy Parent knows that patience isn’t exactly a strong suit for Pomeranians!

My husband, who is 100% on board with our Pommy obsession, lifts them into the car one by one. It’s like they’re preparing for the adventure of a lifetime, even though it might just be a quick run to the grocery store. They settle into their spots—after a few rounds of climbing over each other, of course—before we buckle them in. Yes, you read that right. We buckle them in for safety! It’s a whole routine, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

You’d think living in Las Vegas, the Entertainment Capital of the World, would give us plenty to do. But honestly? Watching our Pomeranians get ready for a car ride is entertaining enough. Don’t judge me—Pomeranian parents will understand!

The Art of Sneaking Your Pomeranian into Stores

Once we’re on the road, the real adventure begins. My husband—big and burly as he may be—is a master at sneaking your Pomeranian into places that clearly say “No Dogs Allowed.” It’s practically his hobby at this point. He’s got a whole arsenal of tactics: scare tactics, sleight of hand, distraction methods. Anything to get Mika and The Boys past those “no pets allowed” signs.

Sneaking your Pomeranian into a store is a covert operation. The bigger the “No Dogs” sign, the bigger the challenge for him. To be clear, we’re never putting our Pomeranians in any danger—this is all just good fun.

That One Time at the Grocery Store…

sneaking Pomeranians into forbidden placesLet me tell you about the time we snuck our Pomeranians into Smith’s, a local grocery store owned by Kroger Co. It was around 10 PM, and we rolled in with our famous Pet Gear Stroller, which has probably become a bit of a celebrity in its own right. We casually strolled past the self-checkout lady, who gave us a big smile and an “Oh, how cute!” look. Little did she know, there were three sneaky Pomeranians inside.

There we were, shopping for sourdough bread and organic snacks, minding our own business. About 15 minutes in, a guy stocking the shelves suddenly appeared and said, “I don’t think this store is pet-friendly.” Busted. But I played it cool and said, “Okay, we’re heading to the checkout.”

We rolled up to the register, and the cashier couldn’t stop cooing at the Poms, making baby noises and telling us how adorable they were. She even said she wished her husband wasn’t allergic so they could have a Pomeranian too. We wrapped up our shopping and headed out—mission successful, yet again.

Favorite Pom-Friendly Spots (and Not-So-Pom-Friendly Ones)

Our favorite places to take Mika and The Boys are Best Buy, Fashion Show Mall, and Town Square Mall. Now, Town Square claims to be pet-friendly, but in reality, most of the stores have a strict no-dogs policy. Still, that doesn’t stop us from trying. We also take them along when we drop off Pommy Treats and Pommy Boxes at the Post Office. The employees love seeing them!

One time, we even joked about sneaking Niko into a Garth Brooks concert at The Wynn because, believe it or not, he’s a huge country music fan. Unfortunately, Garth’s residency ended before we could make it happen. You snooze, you lose, I guess!

Have You Ever Snuck Your Pomeranians In?

Sneaking your Pomeranian into places that don’t allow dogs has become a fun challenge for us. It’s like we’ve turned our daily errands into a game. And let’s be honest—seeing how happy Mika and The Boys are makes it all worthwhile.

I’m curious: have you ever snuck your furry babies into places that didn’t allow dogs? If so, where? I’d love to hear your stories! After all, we Pommy Mommies and Daddies have to stick together.
